We didn't evacuate this time because the state has created a system of which zip codes need to leave based on the strength of the storm and we don't fall into any of them so the state asks that you not evacuate and cause traffic problems for others who are trying to leave from the low lying areas. This was what happened with Rita 3 years ago.
We got the west side of the storm which is considered the clean side. We had rain and some heavy wind but as far as we can tell no other damage.
It currently is 7:37AM and the storm is still pounding away at us but the worst is over and now the worry for the low areas is flooding.
Here ares some pics. Since the storm hit at night it was hard to get any good pictures of the storm but you may be able to hear it in the video clips.
The first rain bands moving in.
IKE!!!! Bring it on!
Aunt Muffy wanted pictures. She acted so brave at first...
but then came in and slept on the floor in Mommy and Daddy's room.
Here is me and Aunt Muffy--ready for the storm about 10:00PM
Me and brother checking out the storm early this morning. Good thing both of us slept through the storm so we could wake up at 5:45 to come see the end of it.
Huncker down and get ready. And run around like a redneck in your underwear.
The future weatherman--in his underwear again.
They are still looking at the damage but for now we are OK. Told to boil water but compared to what others will have to deal with we are feeling lucky and thankful.
