San Antonio Trip

Was in San Antonio a few weeks ago for a conference. It happened to fall around March 6th which is the anniversary of the fall of the Alamo. They had a ceremony at 6 AM in the morning so I got up and went. They had reenactors and speakers and descendants of some of the people there. It was neat to see since it only happens once a year so I was glad I had the chance to go.

This is a view from the top of our hotel of the Alamo. My room looked over an alley but the roof had a nice shot so I went up there.

One evening I convinced some of my colleagues to go with me to the Cove. It is a restaurant that was on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives on the Food Network. It was ranked the #1 place in San Antonio for burgers. That said the place can scare you away if you aren't brave. The front part is small and located between a car wash and a laundromat and are interconnected. They serve beer and wine so the question is - when washing your blue jeans do you drink white wine or red?
Anyway the place had some of the best food I have had. I had a lamb burger with sweet potato fries and it was to die for. They had a band playing music and it was a local hangout. So we were glad we stayed but still get a laugh out of the set-up of the place.
